Features
Markets and sales channels
Limit a rule to specific Shopify Markets or sales channels.
Restrict where your discount applies — by geographic Market, by sales channel (online store, POS, etc.), or both.
Markets
Shopify Markets lets you sell to multiple regions with different currencies, languages, and pricing. You can scope a rule to apply only in selected Markets.
In the rule editor, expand Markets and pick:
- All markets (default) — the rule runs in every Market
- Specific markets — pick one or more from your configured list
Examples
US-only Black Friday
Markets: United States only Discount: 25% off
EU summer promo with regional pricing
Markets: France, Germany, Italy Discount: 15% off Summer collection
Why this matters
Different Markets can have different pricing, currencies, and customer bases. Scoping rules per Market lets you run targeted regional promotions without affecting customers in other regions.
Sales channels
Sales channels are the surfaces where customers can buy — Online Store, Point of Sale, Shop, custom storefronts, etc.
In the rule editor, expand Sales channels and pick:
- All channels (default)
- Specific channels — e.g. Online Store only
Examples
Online-store-only flash sale
Sales channels: Online Store only
This excludes POS purchases — useful when running an online-only promotion.
POS-only loyalty discount
Sales channels: Point of Sale only
For in-store rewards that shouldn't apply to online purchases.
Combining
You can scope a rule by both Market and channel simultaneously. Example:
Markets: United States only Sales channels: Online Store only
This is the typical scope for an online flash sale targeted at one country.
Notes
- Markets must be configured in Shopify admin → Settings → Markets before they appear in the rule editor.
- Sales channel availability depends on which channels are installed and active in your store.
- Rules without explicit Markets or channels set apply to all of them.
